Camping Stove Stand
Lone camper question?
Critical to my issue is me being a lone female (I only have one pair of hands). I want to try camping so have already purchased a small 2 man tent, stove, windbreak, portaloo etc. so can confine my JRT and myself. I don’t have overhead cover (the tent will be for sleeping in only) I am therefore looking for a standing height cover which I can sit beneath/cover my stuff should the weather turn bad. Whatever I purchase needs to be ‘erectable’ by me alone. I will have a car with me so am thinking about pitching it over the rear end of my hatchback car. Any suggestions for weatherproofing etc? Any other suggestions welcome also. Thank you
Ideally, your tent will be sufficiently waterproof that you don’t need any additional cover. When Car Camping, I usually just bring a tarp and some poles, relying on some convenient trees to tie-off to as available, and finishing-up with the poles. Though a bit fiddley, I manage to get it setup by myself.
Coleman makes an instant-set screen house that I’ve seen setup by one person. In fact, this fellow set it up by himself, then setup his tent inside the screen house, and still had some room for his table and chair. Not only did this give him a place to sit and relax out of the rain (and it rained constantly for 4 days), it also helped keep his tent protected (which he said had been known to leak in the past).
If I’m backpacking I just string-up my rain poncho between some available trees.
